Gluten and Skin Health risks
Gluten is one of the proteins that is mainly found in grains, cereals, and wheat, etc. It is most commonly found in those products or foods are that are comprised of grains or wheat etc. Nowadays gluten is one of the main points of discussion related to skin health. As gluten provides no such nutritional benefits, it doesn’t mean gluten has no benefits at all. But people always misunderstand taking gluten as it can cause severe reactions to those people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.
There are very few pieces of evidence to show that a gluten-free diet would help in escaping or avoiding any particular health benefits. Well, applying and ingesting gluten are two different terms. Many doctors suggest that applying gluten-based products is not considered a problem if you have no skin lesions, such as in your lipsticks, lip balms, or other lip products where the chances of gluten ingesting are high. So, those people suffering from Celiac disease must use gluten-free skincare products.
Many skincare products use gluten. So unless you have skin sensitivity and reaction, gluten will not create issues related to skin. It is proven by many dermatologists that gluten doesn’t penetrate your skin merely being present in your topical skincare products as gluten particles are large enough to enter your bloodstream through your skin but only if you ingest it accidentally by washing your face or hair, applying lip products, etc.

- Your skin may not be likely to absorb gluten.
- Those skincare products that contain gluten-containing ingredients used in the formulation of skincare are not necessarily having or contain gluten.
- One should be precautious when using gluten-containing products in the areas where the danger of ingesting increases, such as lips, open skin or wounds, or rashes.
- Always read the label before choosing any skin-care product, containing five potentially gluten-containing grains, which can help you get a good product, or wait for the products that have Gluten-free Labels.
So while you don’t have any reactions to gluten-related products, you should not avoid or eliminate gluten from your diet.
