People who are most conscious of their beauty are familiar with chemical peels. Nowadays, many people request services of chemical peel care. Chemical peel care helps in rejuvenating skin. Through chemical peels, one can remove the outer most layer of skin. Due to this, many skin issues can be tackled such as discoloration, post acne scars, aging and sun damage. Simultaneously, the inner layer of skin, which is brighter and smoother, comes in front. There are various types of chemical peels depending upon their intensity. Sometimes they may cause side effects, but in rare cases.

In order to minimize the side effects, dermatologists have suggested some ways in order to take care of skin after doing a chemical peel. They are as beneath:-

  • Skin should not be deliberately picked: Skin should be allowed to recover on its own without picking at.
  • One should wait for the resumption of the next skincare regimen: After doing chemical peel, no extra products should be used on the face. Dermatologists suggest using moisturizers and sunscreens only. In case of application of unnecessary products, the healing time of the skin may lengthen and it may be followed by irritation. One should resume using their skincare products when the skin gets fully recovered.
  • The face should be washed with cold water: After a chemical peel, the face should be washed with cool or lukewarm water. Using hot water may lead to irritation and damage of the chemical peel treated area which may cause further irritation. In order to provide relief and calm the irritated area, cold water is the best option. It should be followed by the use of moisturizers which will help make a healthy skin.
  • Heavy workouts should be avoided: One should refrain from doing heavy exercise after chemical peel off. This should be done for up to four days since the chemical peel procedure. This is because after doing heavy workouts, blood circulation to the face increases, which intensifies the peel symptoms posterior to the process.
  • Skin should be kept moisturized: The natural capability of skin to protect it from external pollutants will weaken after chemical peel. In order to make the skin regain its repairing ability, a light moisturizer should be used. It will help recover our skin and reduce the redness. Plenty of water should be taken i.e. eight glasses of water a day in order to keep skin hydrated and avoid dehydration.
  • Exfoliant shouldn’t be used: One should not use a separate exfoliant after the primary days of chemical peel. This is because chemical peels themselves have the ability to exfoliate. Using light exfoliators for example, brushes, cleansers and scrubs may also be harsh on one’s skin and can cause sensitivity and redness. If at home, one should give adequate time for the skin to recover.
  • Sunscreen should be applied regularly: After chemical peel, skin becomes more sensitive. In order to protect it from UV rays, sunscreen should be used in order to avoid damage.
  • More time for self care should be made: In order to maintain one’s skin healthy, he should make sure to make sufficient time for self care and skin care. Manicure, pedicure and bubble bath are best ways to calm and soothe one’s skin.
